“Musica Tropical” History – Latin/ English Caribbean Music
When the Spanish and English colonized the Caribbean islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, Trinidad, and Jamaica, West Africans worked in plantations of tobacco, sugar, and coffee. Skinned hand drums, wooden sticks, bells, and voice fused with European melody instruments: horns, strings, and keys formed “Musica Tropical”, the broad name given to the danceable music from the Caribbean islands and the Central and South American mainland.
“Arriba!” Fresh, colorful, versatile, innovative, and tropical party band , Fiesta Tropicale, will add color and rhythm to your occasion.
